Seems all we hear about are problems; crisis after crisis is on TV or in the media.
Experts say this is one of the most stressful times of the year! Think of that – one of the
most joyous seasons is fraught with stress and anxiety. People worry about credit cards ceilings, not having enough stuff and not enough time to get everything done!
It’s the season of good will yet it makes people sad, emphasises loneliness and is the stepping off point for more depression for New Year reflections of all that was not achieved during the year!, Woe, woe, woe.
Snap out of it! Seems to me what is lacking is consumer confidence and population positive thinking.
This continent was built on “can do” not “can not”; opportunity still abounds and small business starts continue to rise. The spirit of entrepreneurialism is strong throughout North America; in fact both the Government of Canada and the Government of British Columbia designated 2011 as the ‘Year of the entrepreneur’. There were almost 600,000 new businesses start every month in 2011 in the USA; these are positive indicators that people are taking control of their lives creating work for themselves and their families. Amazingly small business makes up 98 per cent of all businesses in British Columbia! Approximately 50% of all businesses in North America are considered small business in British Columbia. The SBA calculates there are about 27+million small businesses in the USA (not counting those too small to pay taxes and between 60-80% of all new jobs can be attributed to small business! Come on real estate stagers it is time to rally around the flag! Too many solopreneurs are tuned into the wrong media! You need a strong business program, solid support and a positive outlook to achieve success!
Paul Harvey , the legendary syndicated commentator, always said” it is In times like these we need to remember there have always been times like these” Life is good, business is good, there has never been a better time than NOW.
Five Reasons Now is the Time to Start Your Home Staging Business
You have an eye for home decor and style, love helping people and are addicted to HGTV ! If you have been looking for an opportunity to turn these passions into a profitable business, home staging is the solution. The purpose of home staging is simple—to get the property sold! The goal is to make each property as appealing and welcoming as possible… so that it sells rapidly and for the maximum price possible. Doing this successfully, however, requires a unique skill set that combines an eye for design, style, home décor, and real estate. If you fit the bill and are serious about creating a profitable, recession proof business, now is a great time to begin. Here are five reasons why:
Home stagers are in high demand. With the current state of the housing market, sellers are having a difficult time selling without drastically cutting their asking price. Obviously, no homeowner wants to sell their home for less money—so, as a result, sellers are turning to home stagers to provide the solution.
Starting a home staging business requires relatively little overhead. At its simplest, home staging requires an individual with a great eye, drive, ambition and the contacts necessary to make a property look great. While having capital to invest is a sizeable advantage, it’s not required. Many successful home stagers started out with low capital investment and working from their home—and some of them still do! If you’re looking for a business idea that is recession proof and doesn’t require a massive startup cost, home staging may be the answer!
In today’s world, independence and self-reliance is more valuable than ever. In the “good old days”, individuals worked for companies for decades and decades. They had a steady income and good job security. Nowadays, unfortunately, that type of security is hard to come by. Layoffs are common in seemingly every industry, from finance to auto manufacturers, and just about everything in between. As an independent business owner, you partner with real estate professionals, sellers, builders and investors. Piloting your income stream is a great feeling, trust me!
The need for home staging won’t disappear. A great question to ask yourself, before starting any business, is “will the demand dry up in the future?” The answer for home stagers is clearly no! As long as there are homes to be sold, staging will remain a valuable tactic for every seller regardless of the market.
With the right strategic approach, the opportunity exists to earn a six+-figure income. I’ve personally coached countless home staging professionals, many were just getting into the business, but also some who had been struggling; It takes the right approach, processes and pricing—if you’d like to learn more, join me on a free webinar see details on this website or call us!

Home Staging Professionals: Three Secrets for Success
There are a number of factors which determine the success or failure of any business, and home staging is no exception. That said, I have worked closely with home staging professional for many years – and in that time, I’ve been able to identify traits that virtually every successful staging business shares. Below are three essential secrets every successful home staging professional applies to their business.
An understanding first and foremost, that success in the home staging industry results from the right approach to marketing. At the end of the day, it is your marketing & communication strategies that will make or break your business. How do you acquire and convert leads? Do you create “raving fans” of your services who spread the word? I understand marketing may not be your favorite task—but the reality is , without a well-conceived plan, it’s unlikely you’ll achieve the success you desire.
A relentless commitment to self-improvement, both in terms of knowledge and in skill. One of the distinguishing characteristics of successful business owners in every industry is that they are always learning. Whether it is general business strategy or specific technical details, such as color mapping, curb appeal, design style or trends; successful home staging professionals are never satisfied with their current body of knowledge. Read books, attend workshops, listen to audiotapes and attend industry events— whatever works for your learning style. Just don’t stop growing!
A focus on bottom-line results—and the ability to make adjustments as needed. Every business is about results—and home staging is certainly no exception. Are your services working for your clients? Are they selling their houses for more money than similar un-staged homes? Are they pleased with the service you provide? If the answer to any of these questions is “no”, adjustments are necessary. You should also regularly evaluate the state of your own business—are you attracting new clients? Are you positioned well in your market? Have you differentiated yourself from your competition? Are you pleased with your results? If not, make the necessary adjustments!
