Forever Young – Sept 2008 – Is home staging for you?.
Selling your home? Empty nesters should understand that the longer they’ve lived in their home, the harder it is to look at their property from a buyer’s point of view. That’s where a professional home stager can help.

Housing – Sept. 3, 2008
Home staging has been around for decades, even though it’s only come of age in recent years. Our interest in DIY home upgrades, the competitive real estate market, and popularity of TV programs on selling properties fast have helped bring home staging into focus.
While awareness about staging is definitely growing, many people still struggle to understand exactly what it is, and how it works.
Simply put, home staging is a real estate marketing tool that gives your property a competitive edge. Staging helps a property remain top–of–mind among buyers – even after they’ve viewed many properties online or on foot. That’s why an increasing number of real estate agents now offer a complementary consultation with a professional home stager – often certified, with a Canadian Staging Professional designation – as part of their marketing services to sellers.

The Arizona Republic – August 23, 2008 – Is staging the home worth it?
One thing that irritates home sellers in this overstuffed market is that, even as declining prices whittle away their equity, buyers demand something ever–closer to perfection.
If a couple of hundred dollars spent on a consultation with a stager can help you gain an edge over competing sellers, go for it. “If there are a lot of new builds nearby, you’'re in competition. If people in the neighborhood are staging, you’re in competition with them”, say Christine Rae, author of Home Staging for Dummies book.

Toronto Sun – April 6, 2008 – LYNELLE HARTMAN, CSP INSTRUCTOR, WWW.LH2STAGING.COM
“Business as usual, just doesn’t cut it in today’s marketplace; while some businesses are languishing or barely surviving, why are others thriving?”, asks Christine Rae President and Founder of the unique CSP International Business Training Academy. “This kind of economy is like boot camp; only the strong will be left standing”. Every business climate has good and bad Bill Gates started Microsoft during a recession.

Before and After Participants in the intensive three–day home–staging program offered by Canadian Staging Professionals also gain work experience and build their portfolio by taking part in an actual home staging.

Many trends come and go, but some have staying power, and change the way people work and live.
Home staging is one of them: having originated in the U.S. in the mid–’70s through the efforts of a real estate agent trying to help homeowners prepare their homes for sale, home staging has in recent years been enjoying tremendous
popularity – among both home sellers, and those interested in entering the field.
“Everybody is busy today, and homebuyers want a house where they can move in, unpack and get on with their life immediately. They don’t want to move in, fix this, paint that, call in a roofer, their time is precious.”

“They are going to learn marketing, business processes, pricing, how to design a great room, colour, furniture placement, lighting, art and more,” says home stager and course instructor Christine Rae.
Rae says the program not only benefits aspiring stagers, but decorators, real estate agents and organizers who want to add a competitive edge to their existing services.
Once in the field, home stagers will be well–equipped to build a thriving business in this fast–growing field, Rae says.
“All things being equal,” Rae says, “someone coming into this program that already has a design sense and some basic abilities will be totally ready to do business.”

The Orillia Today – Real Estate Weekly – November 23, 2007 – The Stage Is Set
Home staging continues to gain popularity. “Home staging is more like un–decorating. We generally de–clutter and de–personalize a home, so that it appeals to a broader range of buyers.”

Trends, myths, misconceptions and the realities of staging services. The demand for the service of “home staging” is creating a new buzz in the real estate world. Millions of people actually want to start their own business. So training programs are springing up, and now more than ever people are entering this exciting new field. Exposure through TV and media has driven the quest for information and services to an all–time high. The time is rapidly approaching where there will not be enough professionally trained home stagers to meet the demand. Recently released statistics from Maritz Research revealed 63% of today's buyers are willing to pay more money for a house that does not require any renovations.

Rented art, furniture can do the trick. A little research uncovered the promising concept of home staging for a quick sale. Widely used in model home decorating, the staging of a resale home similarly involves decorating the home to effectively highlight all of the home’s beauty and functionality.

The St. Catharines Standard – April 23, 2006 – Staging brings big changes to an Oshawa House.
One day in March, a busload of women descended on an Oshawa home, madly painting, de–cluttering and rearranging furniture. Then their job done this group of 22 women, boarded the bus and headed back to Toronto, leaving behind a changed house designed to attract buyers.
“They had an open house on Sunday (after the staging) and people who had seen the house before couldn’t believe it was the same house”

The room was cramped, but once they removed everything, except the table and four of its chairs and opened all the blinds, suddenly there was space.
“People could see that space and visualize themselves in that space”
After staging the house sold in just one day for more than the original asking price.
