Home Staging: Ten Resolutions for Success in 2013
We’ve been discussing strategy for the New Year recently, and since 2013 is upon us, I thought i would close out the year with some of New Year’s resolutions for you to consider! If you have thought about building a successful business; Ask yourself do you have all the skills, knowledge and abilities necessary? These resolutions will help!
1) Make a list of your best referral sources. Have you ever sat down and figured out where exactly your business comes from? For many of you, it is mainly through referrals. Take a moment right now to list your referral sources, and identify which have become the most valuable.
2) Create a plan to “work” these sources. Now that you know which referral sources produce the most business, create a plan that ensures you are leveraging them as much as possible! Phone calls, cards in the mail, lunches—commit to nurturing these valuable relationships!
3) Precisely define your target market. Who are you trying to reach as you market? Real estate agents? Home owners? Precisely define your market and create a plan for reaching them.
4) Do something each and every day to develop business. Commit to doing something each and every day… a quick phone call to a referral source, a card in the mail to a homeowner you know is looking to sell. You don’t have to spend hours and hours—just do something each day!
5) Work to “wow” each customer. Make it a goal to exceed expectations. Do this consistently and your customers will spread the word to their family and friends.
6) Create a new marketing initiative every quarter. Don’t get stagnant and stale. Try something new every few months. If you need help coming up with ideas, get in touch with me!
7) Commit to growing as a person and a business owner. Educate yourself! You are the single biggest determining factor in the success or failure of your business. Attend RESA convention. Read books. Find a mentor. We offer a variety of seminars and workshops and would love to help you.
8) Create a detailed list of goals and objectives for 2013. If you don’t know where you are going, you are never going to get there. Take the time to create a list of specific, measurable goals for 2013. Then create a “road map” to ensure each goal is accomplished.
9) Create “customer service standards” to ensure a consistent experience. Successful businesses aren’t built through “flashes of brilliance.” They are built through consistent excellence. And the customer experience you create is one of these key areas that must be consistent. Create detailed standards—and insist that you and your team adhere to them all year long.
10) Be proactive. This is an intentionally open-ended statement. Many people live their lives and run their businesses passively. This rarely leads to success. So whether it is in marketing, sales, networking, strategic partnerships, or anything else… you know what you want, so make it happen! Don’t wait passively for good things to happen to you.
